Job Description
An extremely exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a leading, privately owned contractor based in Southampton within their Projects Division, assisting with the delivery of projects up to the value of £20M. This contractor is a long-established regional construction company in the South, working on various projects including new build, fit out and refurbishment in the education, residential, health, leisure, commercial and industrial sector.
Design Manager Responsibilities:
- Manage multi discipline teams including designers and sub-contractors
- Chair and manage Design Team Meetings
- Knowledge of construction methods and technology
- Coordination of packages and ability to spot gaps
- Ability to prioritise and drive key design packages
- Manage information flow on projects and recognise and manage design risks
- Understanding of current legislations
- Able to pull together Information Release Schedule/Designers Responsibility Matrix/Scope of Service Documents
Design Manager Criteria:
- Ideally HNC/HND/Degree in Construction Management or Architecture
- Broad understanding of procurement routes - Traditional/Negotiated and 2 Stage
- Experience working for main contractors
- Project experience up to £20M
